Vincent, Hamilton assume new posts

Eric Vincent, newly-elected Tyler County Commissioner, was sworn into office on Thursday, Dec. 23, by Judge David Hummel, Jr. Vincent, a Republican, was elected last November and fills the seat previously occipied by Robert Wable.

Vincent is a graduate of Sistersville High School, attended West Virginia University, and graduated from West Virginia Northern with a degree in Business Administration. He is presently a Banking Center Manager and assistant Vice President of Wesbanco. He has been with Wesbanco for 23 years.

Vincent is on the board of the Tyler County Development Authority; Tyler County Planning Commission; ArtsLink; Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce; WVNCC Foundation; SHS Alumni Association; WVU Extension Service Committee and is a member of the local Elks Lodge.

He and his wife Connie are parents to Brandi Walton and Sabrina Reed and have five grandchildren: Sydney and Jace Reed; and Brylee Henderson, Zander Henderson, and Breagan Walton.

“My overall goal is to make sure the county is financially fit,” remarked Vincent about his new position as Commissioner. “I hope, as an elected official, to do my job for the people of the county and keep their interests in mind when (the commission) makes its decisions.”

Newly elected Tyler County Clerk Teresa Hamilton was sworn into office on Tuesday, Dec. 21 by Judge Mark Karl, in the Tyler County Circuit Courtroom. Also sworn in were deputy clerks Kristin Wise, Robin Reed and Sarah Smith.

Hamilton has been employed at the courthouse for 17 years, beginning her career working part-time in the tax office. She was then hired by County Clerk Donna Thomas and worked in the clerk’s office. She became a deputy County Clerk in 1995. A Ritchie County native and graduate of Pennsboro High School, she also attended Parkersburg Community College (WVU-P). She is married to Gary Hamilton and the couple live in Shirley.

Mrs. Hamilton is the mother of two sons, Douglas Hayes II and Christopher Hayes, as well as stepmother to Greg Hamilton and Amanda Curry (Ryan). Doug is married to the former Andrea Mace.They are the parents of two children, Gavin and Madelyn,and are expecting their third child. Christopher is married to the former Martha Tennant and have three children, Peyton, Parker, and Pierson. Christopher also has a son Skyler from his first marriage.

When asked what her goals were concerning her new job, Hamilton commented, “I want to serve the people of Tyler County. They are the taxpayers who pay our salary. I hope to bring the County Clerk’s office into the future while taking care of our past.”
