Board welcomes new employees

The Tyler County Board of Education honored one employee for her many years of service and introduced several new employees at their regular meeting on Monday.

The Tyler County Support Staff of the Year award went to Nancy Seckman. She was awarded a plaque for her 29 years of service to Tyler County Schools.

Duane Dober, director of personnel, introduced the new employees to the board members.

Jamie Kerns will serve as the new 9th grade English teacher at Tyler Consolidated High School.

Jamie Nelson and Megan Goddard are the new Special Education teachers.

Kathy Michaels will be the new secretary for TCMS and Gina Crawford will teach at both A.I. Boreman and Sistersville Elementary.

Lacy Strode is the TCMS cheerleading coach and Janet Cline is the new Business Education teacher at TCHS.

Herb Efaw was promoted from a substitute bus driver to a full time bus driver and Jimmy Newbrough was will be the new custodian.

The board members welcomed the new employees to Tyler County Schools. “We’re glad to have all of you,” said Board President Linda L. Hoover.

In other business, the SBA MIP local match share was discussed. Superintendent Robin Daquilante stated it is just a renewal and it is a 10 percent match for the replacement of some of the concrete at all three facilities.

The TCHS 2010-2011 Boys Basketball, Freshman Basketball and Girls Basketball schedules were approved for the year.

The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Tyler County Board of Education Office located inside Tyler Consolidated High School.
