Sheriff’s office runs deterrence program
According to Sheriff Bob Kendle, the Tyler County Sheriff’s office participated in a federally funded patrol grant administrated by the State of West Virginia from Feb. 1 through June 30. The purpose of the added patrol was to combat drunk driving.
The TCSO made a total of 522 traffic strops during this period which resulted in the following: three DUI arrests, 10 misdemeanor arrests, two felony arrests and two drug related arrests.
Deputies also issued 53 traffic citations and 344 warnings.
The DUI patrol covered all areas of Tyler County in an effort to combat and deter driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
All of the above traffic stops resulting arrests, citations and warnings were in addition to normal scheduled duties.
