City of Sistersville to erect new sign

By Staff | Jul 14, 2010

The crew from Sistersville Tank Works is hard at work constructing a sign for the City of Sistersville. Picture from left is Neven Moffitt, Project Chairman Harold Dally, Mayor Dave Fox, Mark Ankrom, Don Rush, Zach Morgan and Jim Stackpole. Dally says the sign should be in place in time for the Oil and Gas Festival.

The Sistersville Planning Commission is working on a new project for the city – a sign which will extend over Diamond Street at the intersection of W.Va. 2 reading “Welcome to Sistersville.”

The project is in the beginning stages with the construction phase to start soon. Special thanks to Sistersville Tank Works for their help in designing and building the sign for the city.

Project Chairman Harold Dally said, “Don Rush at Sistersville Tank Works has really gone out of this way to assist us with this project.”

Dally says the sign should be in place in time for the West Virginia Oil and Gas Festival.

Along with the welcome sign, an extra able will be in place to support other advertisements such as alumni, O&G Festival, etc. Gold colored letters will highlight the letters, with two simulated oil derricks supporting either side of the structure.

Monetary donations to the project can be sent to: The City of Sistersville, c/o Sign Project, 200 Diamond Street, Sistersville, WV, 26175.

“Help with this project will be greatly appreciated,” Dally commented.

More projects are in the works for this summer, all with the goal of adding to the charm of Sistersville.
