‘Spooktacular’ plans set in motion

Preparations for the weekend were spearheaded by President Rich Danser, 1st Vice President Jennifer (Thomas) Surface and 2nd Vice President Beth (Hendricks) Roberts.

This weekend the streets of Sistersville will be filled with faces from the past as graudates of Sistersville High School return to Tyler County to reunite with classmates.

The theme for this year’s Alumni weekend is “SHS Halloween Spooktacular”. Events for the year have been planned by the SHS Alumni Association, spearheaded this year by President Rich Danser, 1st Vice President Jennifer (Thomas) Surface and 2nd Vice President Beth (Hendricks) Roberts.

The weekend will open with Chapel to be held in the SHS gymnasium at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 28. The Annual Golf Tournament will follow at noon at the Sistersville Country Club.

The cost for golf will be $35 for non-ountry Club members or $25 for members. The limit will be 80 golfers.

Proceeds from the tourney will benefit the scholarship fund.

The Presidential Luncheon will also be held following Chapel at the Elks. The ticket cost will be $8 and is limited to 250 people.

On Saturday, the annual parade will be held downtown Sistersville at 1 p.m.

West Virginia University Head Football Coach Bill Stewart will serve as the banquet speaker at the Elks beginning at 5:30 p.m. Stewart first coaching job was at Sistersville High School from 1975-77.

Tickets for the banquet will be sold for $20. Seating will be limited to 250 people.

The alumni dance will be held at the Elks at 9 p.m. on Saturday evening. Prizes will be awarded during this event for the best Halloween costumes. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume and join the fun.
