SVFD seeks interested teens
In a day and age when worthwhile activities are few and far between, the Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department is seeking interested young men and women for the formation of a Fire Service Exploring post.
Fire Service Exploring is a program for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are at least 14-years of age but have not yet reached the age of 21.
The post will be organized around interests in fire and emergency services, civil defense, first aid and ambulance corps, fire fighting, rescue service, paramedic, EMT and volunteer fire fighting.
Exploring programs are based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character eduction and leadership experience. Post activities can include a wide variety of classroom and hands on training in many Fire/EMT topics, day trips to related regional events and Junior Firefighter camp.
But don’t confuse the program with the Junior Firefighters – the Explorers program offers much more.
The SVFD is sponsoring this program, however, the program is open to young men and women without regard to fire district.
