Rain does not dampen festival
The 10th annual Marble Festival held Sept. 25-27 in Sistersville was a huge success said coordinator of the Festival, Jim King.
“It rained off and on throughout the weekend, and caused things to be slow at times, but a little rain can not dampen the spirits of real marble collectors,” King said.
King said that this year’s Festival hosted many more vendors than in the past. “The people who set up here from year to year go to other Festivals and talk about this one, and every year we get more vendors.” he said. “They love the friendly attitude of the people here and just the whole atmosphere of Sistersville.”
Portions of Wells and Charles Streets were closed during the three day event to allow vendors to set up their wares and for festival goers to walk around at their leisure and celebrate the art of marble making and collecting.
Vendors and collectors came from far and wide converged on Sistersville to buy, sell and trade marbles, watch marbles being made and participate in marble tournaments.
“This was huge effort by so many people,” said King. “Many, many thanks go out to all of the people that helped put the Festival together this year.”
