Friendly makes plan for annual ice cream social

By Staff | Aug 12, 2009

With the recent sweltering summer weather finally here, it’s no surprise the main topic of a short Friendly Town Council meeting on Monday was their upcoming ice cream social.

After a review of the events and topics discussed at last month’s meeting, council members ironed out the plans for the event which is slated for Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Friendly Community Building. It will begin at 4 p.m. and go until 7.

There will be plenty of food for everyone including hot dogs, nachos with cheese, an assortment of pies, cake, and homemade ice cream.

The variety of pies will include apple, cherry, berry, peach, and more. Some of the pies will be sugar-free.

For entertainment, live music will be played and horseshoes and cornhole can be played for those who want some competition.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the event.

In other matters, a letter was received mentioning that the grant request was received and will be reviewed and considered.

The fence for the planned park was moved, but new wire for the top of the fence was ordered as the current wire is the wrong size.

In terms of high speed internet, there is still no news of concrete plans of it being brought to Friendly.
