Fireworks will punctuate picnic
Plans for the Sistersville’s annual Picnic in the Park are in full swing, with the event slated for Sunday, July 5.
According the Barbara Vincent, donations for the grand fireworks display have been pouring in from everywhere. She remarked, “They are greatly appreciated.”
This marks the 19th year for the picnic and the 13th year for the fireworks.
The scheduled events will start at 2 p.m. with a flag raising ceremony courtesy of the VFW and The American Legion posts.
The afternoon entertainment will be Love Shine from the First United Methodist Church in Paden City. They will perform under the big shelter at 2:30 p.m. At 7:30, Godsmen will perform on the stage.
Roger Hartline will be on-hand to provide toys and games for the younger kids under the big tree. Local radio station 93R will do a live remote 1-3 p.m. The IGA in Sistersville will supply the cake and ice cream. There will also be a climbing wall, exhibition boxing and wrestling, basketball, concession stands, snow biz booths, and of course the swimming pool will be open with swimmers being charged $1 to swim all day. They had about 550 customers at the swimming pool last year.
The fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. The rain date for this event will be held on July 6.
The back parking lot will be closed due to the fireworks display. It will be closed from Friday until Sunday, so be sure to come early and get a good parking spot and enjoy the day with your family.
