Sheriff’s report released

Deputies with the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office have released the following report for the month of May 2009.

Deputies traveled over 8,266 miles, spent 46 hours in service as court bailiffs, served 67 circuit papers, served 60 magistrate court papers, received 70 complaints, investigated nine auto accidents, conducted 37 traffic stops and completed nine home confinement monitors.

Deputies investigated the following crimes: three cases of cruelty to animals; six cases of burglary; two cases of obtaining goods by false pretenses; two cases of grand larceny; one case of harboring a vicious animal;two cases of petit larceny; one case of extortion; one case of delivery of a controlled substance;one case of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance; one case of attempting to deliver a controlled substance; one case of destruction of property; one case of battery; one burglar alarm; one felony possession of a firearm; two cases of sexual assault; one accidental death; and one case of disturbing the peace.

The following number of arrests were made (both felony and misdemeanor): one arrest for destruction of property; two arrest for underage consumption of alcohol; one arrest for attempted delivery of a controlled substance; one arrest for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; one arrest for delivery of a controlled substance; one arrest for cruelty to animals; five arrest for obtaining goods by false pretenses; two arrests for worthless checks; one arrest for contributing to the delinquency of a minor; one arrest for underage possession of tobacco; and one arrest for possession of marijuana.

The following traffic citations were issues: one for DUI; 10 for speeding; two for no proof of insurance; three for driving while operator’s license suspended or revoked; one for operation of an ATV prohibited on roadway; one for defective equipment; one for left of center; one for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker and one.
