TCHS Seniors Honored at State Capitol
Two Tyler Consolidated High School seniors were recognized at the West Virginia State Capitol last week after leading an effort to register their entire senior class to vote.
Lily Thompson and Dane Nelson traveled to Charleston alongside representatives from Tyler County to meet with West Virginia Secretary of State Chris Warner. During their visit, the students were presented honorary Secretary of State certificates on behalf of Tyler Consolidated High School in recognition of their achievement.
Thompson and Nelson successfully registered 100 percent of the TCHS senior class to vote, earning the school the prestigious Jennings Randolph Award for the 2025-2026 school year. The award honors schools that demonstrate outstanding commitment to civic engagement and voter registration efforts.
While at the Capitol, the students toured the historic building and learned about the responsibilities of the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office. They were also recognized by District Delegate Bill Bell during the current legislative session.
Accompanying Thompson and Nelson on the trip were Chief Deputy Clerk Amy Glover, Deputy Clerk Ashley Thompson, and Deputy Clerk Davon Henderson.
School and county officials praised the entire senior class for their commitment to civic responsibility.
Congratulations to the Tyler Consolidated High School Class of 2026 for setting an example in community engagement and voter participation.
