Harry E. & Olive T. Barth Awards Announced

Ten organizations providing services in Tyler County have been selected as the 2025 grant recipients from the Harry E. and Olive T. Barth Charitable Trust. A total of $115,108.00 will be distributed for arts and culture, food security and basic needs, city improvements in Sistersville, and other activities in Tyler County.

The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley oversees the Trust’s grantmaking process, while WesBanco Bank, Inc. serves as Trustee and Investment Advisor. Grants from the Trust are recommended by an advisory committee comprised of stakeholders and advisors. This structure supports input from the community and encourages strategic use of available resources. Since its 2016 inception, the competitive grant component of the Trust has awarded more than $1,000,000 to support projects throughout Sistersville and Tyler County.

Organizations receiving grant awards were FIVE LOAVES FOOD PANTRY for a Turkey and Thanksgiving box giveaway – $12,550; Catholic Charities West Virginia for Tyler and Wetzel Counties outreach – $7000; City of Sistersville Park and Pool for new roof project on Bathhouse and Ash Shelter – $20,650; City of Sistersville Ferry – $15,460; Marietta Health Foundation for bariatric chairs for disabilities for the Sistersville Hospital – $5,136; Mater Doloroso Catholic Church for support of the third Thursday Soup Lunch – $15,000; Olive Branch Animal Rescue and Refuge for heating system for cat area project – $14,729; Sistersville First United Methodist Church for Fath Hands – $6,613; Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department for industrial washer and dryer for bunker gear – $12,970 and the Center for Children and Families for Families First Fund – $5000.

The Barth Foundation’s commitment to improving lives and supporting opportunity reflects their deep understanding of the community needs in Sistersville and surrounding Tyler County.
