Red Raiders Celebrate Alumni Weekend
On a crisp fall Saturday morning, October 11th, the town of Middlebourne proudly welcomed home their Tyler County Red Raiders, celebrating their return with a wave of nostalgia and the timeless tradition of red and black!
Crowds lined the streets and streamers in red and black fluttered from lampposts, and storefronts proudly displayed signs like “Welcome Back, Raiders!”
The annual alumni parade kicked off the celebration, winding its way through the heart of downtown Middlebourne. Floats rolled slowly down the street, each one a tribute to the graduating classes of years past.
The Tyler Consolidated marching band led the parade and entertained the crowds playing a familiar and much-loved tune, the Tyler County High School fight song.
Alumni weekend is a living memory even though the county school has been closed for more than 30 years when it consolidated with Sistersville High School to form the new Tyler Consolidated High School. Still today, it is a homecoming of generations bound by the legacy of the Red Raiders.
