The Sistersville Farmers Market returns for its highly anticipated second season on Monday, June 3, bringing fresh local produce, family-friendly fun, and a vibrant sense of community to Sistersville City Park. The market will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Now a proud member of the West Virginia Farmers Market Association and a recipient of the 2024 mini- grant program, the market continues to grow in both size and impact. Organizers say this year’s opening day promises a festive atmosphere with a wide range of local vendors, farm-fresh food, and engaging activities for all ages.

One of the day’s highlights will be the interactive Soil Tunnel Trailer, an educational exhibit sponsored by West Virginia Conservation Agencies and funded by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. The exhibit offers hands-on learning experiences designed especially for children and aims to teach the importance of soil health and agriculture through fun, market-themed activities.

In addition to farm-fresh offerings, the market will feature a community outreach initiative through the West Virginia USDA ILA Project in partnership with West Virginia University. This collaborative effort focuses on increasing food access and supporting local agriculture across the state.

Special guest Kent Leonhardt, West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture, is hoping to attend, along with invited local and state officials, to recognize the role of grassroots food initiatives in strengthening rural communities.

“This market is more than just a place to buy produce,” said market manager Taylor Rosenlieb. “It’s a celebration of community-driven food access, educational innovation, and the revitalization of small towns through local agriculture.”

Residents and visitors alike are invited to come out, shop local, and celebrate the beginning of another season of connection, learning, and good food in Sistersville.
