Tyler Consolidated Students Excel at State SkillsUSA Competition

Students from Tyler Consolidated High School who attend the Mid-Ohio Valley Technical Institute made their community proud by placing in the Top 3 of their respective events at the state-level SkillsUSA Spring Conference Competition. The event was held at Fairmont State University on March 28 and 29th, where students from across the state showcased their skills in a variety of technical and vocational disciplines.
The competition brought together some of the most talented students in West Virginia, and Tyler Consolidated students demonstrated their dedication and expertise by earning top honors. SkillsUSA competitions are designed to assess students’ abilities in leadership, teamwork, and hands-on skills relevant to their chosen career paths.
The Mid-Ohio Valley Technical Institute (MOVTI), located in St. Marys, WV, is a multi-county career center and is a collaborative effort between Pleasants, Ritchie, Tyler, and Wetzel Counties serving 6 high schools: Magnolia, Paden City, Ritchie County, St. Marys, and Tyler Consolidated.
Competition events were Career Showcase, Interactive Game Design, Criminal Justice Tactical Response and Welding Fabrication. Finishing in the top three in their event were: Career Showcase – Arts & Communication (team event) – 1st Place Mariah King TCHS; Interactive Game Design (team event) – 1st Place Devin Dawson TCHS; Criminal Justice Tactical Response (team event) – 2nd Place Delbert Ebert TCHS; and Welding Fabrication (team event) – 3rd Place Hunter Lamp TCHS.
