Ariel Young is a resident of Tyler County and just published her first book at age 6.

This summer Ariel attended the Build Adventure Lego event at the Paden City Public Library hosted by Brian Rogers. At this event Rogers gave the children a mini figure and told them to create a story to go along with their new character. The children then were given time to build a Lego world for their characters and once they were done, they were told to present the story to Rogers. Young created a story about Moon Girl, a doll who took a trip to the moon in her rocket ship. She continued talking about this story and adding more details constantly such as naming her main character Aleah after her best friend even after the event was over. After many changes to the story, such as making the character a little girl and her doll. To make the story start in a classroom and the journey of how she would have to work to make it to the moon. Once her story was complete this is when she knew that she wanted to publish this story, so all her friends could hear it too. She was part of every step of the book creation including working with illustrator Joli Innerarity on what each page should look like. This was a process that took a lot of patience, but she knew it would be worth it when she was holding the book in her hand. Ariel’s book was released on October 16, 2024, and hit the best-sellers list the next day, hitting #13 in the first 24 hours of its release. Making her a best-selling author at only 6 years old. Ariel hopes to continue writing stories and sharing them with the world. Ariel hopes to see her story in classrooms all around the world one day, she hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams just like she is.
