Several areas of Tyler County were hit with a powerful storm on Saturday, Sept. 21, causing power outages, property damage and several downed trees in Sistersville.
The sudden arrival of the storm, classified as a microburst by the National Weather Service, left little time to prepare. The hardest hit area of Sistersville was Riverside Drive. Two local properties lost large roof sections, and another home was damaged from flying debris. The destruction can be seen in the pictures attached. Mon Power was quick to arrive and worked late into the night to restore power, while the Sistersville Fire Department and Mayor Rice worked to secure generators for affected families. The Sistersville city crew began the clean-up on Monday.
Mayor Rice, Sistersville Fire Department, Mon Power and the Sistersville City Crew deserve credit and many thanks for their quick response.
