Sistersville Oil & Gas Parade Draws Large Crowd

The Paden City High School Marching Band participates in the Sistersville Oil & Gas Parade.
The 56th annual West Virginia Oil & Gas festival was held Thursday, September 12 through Saturday, September 14 in Sistersville, West Virginia.
The long running festival was founded to celebrate and pay tribute to the rich history of the Oil & Gas industry in the community. Despite the treasured history of the festival for the community, recent years have seen declining numbers in attendance. To write the ship, the Oil & Gas board members added some upgrades, like free kitty rides, food trucks and new entertainment at the park. There also was a huge foam pit that kids of all ages enjoyed.
Then on Saturday the Grand Parade followed its traditional route beginning at 1 p.m., coming north on State Route 2 and then proceeding through downtown on Wells Street. The sidewalks were full of children with their candy bags ready, enjoying low humidity and warm temperatures topping out in the mid-80s. Eleven marching bands traveled to Sistersville to participate in the Grand Parade, and it is always a treat to have our local favorite bands from Tyler Consolidated, Paden City High School, Valley High School, Magnolia and Hundred High School proudly march through the center of town decked out in their finery.
