Sistersville Oil & Gas Festival is Sept. 12-14

Sistersville will once again be the site of the West Virginia Oil & Gas Festival on Sept. 12-14 at the Sistersville City park.

Admission to the fairgrounds is free.

This will be the 56th year for the event and from all indications it will be another fun time for festival goers as they converge on the community. Through the town visitors and locals will hear the sounds of the gas engines and the working “Little Sister Well” as a signal for the beginning of the celebration.

The festival will open on Sept. 12 with traditional flag raising at 10 a.m. All three days the festival will feature the oil and gas engine show, crafters and flea market all running from 10 a.m. till 9 p.m. Also featured everyday is the Historic Walking Tour, the city businesses window displays, food trucks, Poor Daddy Pizza, Barby’s BBQ, Dan’s Ice Cream and Fat Cat Kettle Corn.

New this year is the ferry cruise on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. Also on Thursday, The Carriers will perform on the stage from 6-8 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 13 repeats all of the events from the day before with the festival opening at 10 AM in addition to the Gib Morgan Wrench Throwing contest at 6 p.m. followed by the Rick & Jessica w/Birch River Band from 5-6: 30 p.m. and Smexy DJ and Karaoke from 7-10 p.m. Kiddy Rides will be free on Friday from 4:30-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 14 will be the annual Oil & Gas parade through downtown Sistersville featuring bands from across the state. Band a Rama will be held at Tyler Consolidated High School beginning at 4 PM. Saturday will also feature the Midnight Outlaws from 2-4 p.m. and finally the Foam Party Dance Floor from 2-4 p.m.

Event organizers are busy trying to finalize additional entertainment, face painting, carnival rides and a Kids Scavenger Hunt.
