Another Tyler County Fair In The Books

Children ride in a kid-sized ferris wheel during this year's Tyler County Fair.
The 61st annual Tyler County Fair kicked off on July 29th, 2024, with large crowds enjoying the festivities throughout the week. Despite some rain that arrived late on Friday, the overall weather was favorable for the event.
The Tyler Consolidated Marching Band led the opening ceremonies on Monday evening followed by the annual Tyler County Fair Queen’s Pageant. Hailey Sandy was crowned as the 2024 Tyler County Fair Queen and reigned over the fair throughout the celebration. Other winners included Tiny Miss Adalynn Knox; Little Miss Emry Bartrug; Little Mister Ryder McIntyre; Jr Miss Savannah Pittman; Pre Teen Addyson Smith; Teen Holly Johnson and Queen Hailey Sandy.
Fair week often foreshadows the end of the official summer vacation for kids in the area but is still eagerly awaited. As mentioned earlier a couple fair days were dogged with rain events, but stoic fans were rewarded with rainbows and beautiful sunsets along the midway.
Some of the daily events included Livestock Shows, Bingo (Sponsored by the Friendly Lions Club), Karaoke, Cow Patty Bingo, Carnival Rides, Food Trucks scattered throughout the grounds, Dirt Track Racing, Mini Wedges, Nightly Entertainment on the main stage, Flat Cart Racing, Hog Calling Contests, Liar’s Contest, Nail Driving, Haybale Throwing, Corn Hole, Truck Driver Rodeo, Horseshoe Pitching, Demolition Derby, Car Show And ATV Drag Racing. Events in the barn included Market Livestock Buyers’ Reception, Market Livestock Sale, Goat Livestock Show, Market Livestock Sheep, Beef & Dairy Livestock Show and Livestock Steer Show.
Other activities included Youth Bicycle Races, Youth Day Free Carnival (Sponsored By The Middle Island Cornhole Club) and the Pretty Baby Contest.
The conclusion of the fair took place on Saturday night and featured entertainment from John Norris followed by Travis Denning. The Grand Finale Fireworks display closed the fair.
All in all, it was a week of pageantry and fun for all attending. Congratulations Tyler County Fair Association on a very successful week at the fair!
