WVU Medicine Wetzel County Hospital announces opening of new Sleep Lab and upgraded Cardiopulmonary Rehab Clinic
New Martinsville, WV (July 28, 2022) WVU Medicine Wetzel County Hospital today announced the grand opening of their new state of the art Sleep Center located on the campus of Wetzel County Hospital; the first of its kind in the area. The Sleep Center will conduct various types of sleep disturbance testing for patients 16 years and older that live within a 60-mile radius of New Martinsville including the following conditions and symptoms: snoring, sleep apnea, daytime sleepiness, sleepwalking, nocturnal myoclonus, nocturnal asthma/ COPD, parasomnias, REM sleep behavior disorders, restless leg syndrome, and sleep disorders in the elderly. There are two dedicated rooms that are equipped with adjustable double beds, television, and a private bathroom.
Staff includes Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Melanie Winters and Medical Director, Dr. Mouhannad Azzouz, a board-certified sleep medicine specialist. The lab will receive orders not only from local physicians and nurse practitioners but will also accept orders from physicians and nurse practitioners in Wheeling, Parkersburg, and Morgantown for patients that live within the Wetzel, Tyler and Monroe County areas.
In an addition to the grand opening of the Sleep Clinic, The upgraded Cardiopulmonary Rehab Facility will celebrate a staff open house and grand re-opening from 12:00 -2:00 pm after having been temporarily closed for two weeks in June. The center has added a brand new Telemetry Monitoring System called Scottcare that will improve the overall patient and staff experience as well as other improvements to the clinicás work space for a better patient experience.
