Patty Boggs Retires From the Tyler County Tax Office
After 48 years working in the Tax Office of the Tyler County Courthouse, Patty Boggs has decided to call it a career. She is retiring this summer as Chief Tax Deputy for Tyler County to begin having more time to enjoy her family and friends.
A large crowd of family, friends and officers astounded Patty with a going away party that took her completely by surprise. There was plenty of wonderful food and memorable stories shared by all. Patty, not one who enjoys being in the limelight, was overwhelmed when everyone yelled “surprise.” Her happy face told those in attendance how pleased she was with the party.
Patty began her career right out of high school and never left. She served Tyler County under seven different sheriffs’ tenures in her career.
Current Tyler County Sheriff Brian Weigle shared, “Patty was a joy to work with and was very dedicated and helpful. She served this county admirably and will be missed.”
Past Sheriff Mike Griffin added, “Whenever the sheriff was in the courthouse there were guidelines that had to be followed. There might have been things you wanted to do, but Patty would say you can’t do that and you better not or you would answer to her.” Sheriff Griffin explained she didn’t allow rule breaking because she was always concerned about the auditor showing up, but he never had to worry. Things were always good. Sheriff Griffin remarked, “The auditor would say as long you have that girl there you will be in good shape!”
Patty has plans for post deputy life. One of her interests going forward is to work with WVU Medicine traveling to different hospitals to rock opioid addictive babies. Another is to travel to visit family in Italy as soon as possible.
From the citizens of Tyler County, we thank you for your years of service, Patty, and wish you good luck in your retirement.
