American Countess Passes Through Sistersville

A sure sign of summer in the valley is the welcome sightings of paddlewheel riverboats cruising up and down the Ohio River.
“American Countess,” which is part of the American Queen Steamboat Company, is shown coming into town down bound on the Ohio River along Riverside Drive. Just about the same time last summer, you may recall seeing a similar ship from the same company, the “American Duchess.”
The giant “American Countess” is one of the newest members of the company’s fleet. This ship is described as a combination of “old paddle wheelers’ with a contemporary design and can accommodate 245 guests. The countess has large forward-facing windows and a portside bar with an 80-foot view. She isn’t your traditional Victorian styled riverboat. She is sleek and modern when it comes to style and technology.
You can have the chance to board this ship and take a cruise from Louisville, Kentucky and end up in Pittsburgh sailing along many familiar landmarks along the Ohio. The next scheduled trip for the “American Countess” to Pittsburgh is September 5th sailing for nine days at a fare of $2,499 per person.
The itinerary from Louisville explains, one can travel to Madison, Indiana, then to Cincinnati, Ohio, go back down into Maysville, Kentucky, into West Virginia, Ohio, and then disembark in Pittsburgh.
