Barb Daly Presides at State P.E.O. Convention

The fifty-ninth annual convention of the West Virginia State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood was held April 29-30 at the Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia where 182 members and visitors attended. New Martinsville resident and State President Barbara Daly conducted the business for the two day event. Kathryn Ebert of Washington State and Organizer of International Chapter was in attendance. Nettie Jo Herrick and Lillian Pierce served as local chapter delegates. Amy Cibik of Florida served as head guard. Others in attendance from Chapter U, New Martinsville were Julia Bolin, Mariann Balcerek, Genie Clements, Mary Ferrebee, Judy Grace, Linda Hill, Barbara Klug, Mary Ann Rutherford, Tracy Summers and Past State President, Carol Burnside.
During the business meeting Julia Bolin was installed as State Secretary for 2022-2023 year, and Chapter U, New Martinsville was recognized for two 2021-2022 project awards: The Program for Continuing Education (PCE) Brighter Tomorrow and The Educational Loan Fund (ELF) Legacy Chapter at the banquet.
P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) has been celebrating women helping women reach for the stars for more than 150 years. The Sisterhood also owns and supports Cottey College. Through membership, the P.E.O. What started with a bond of friendship among seven women in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is now one of the oldest womenás organizations in North America with nearly 5,800 chapters.
