Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for NEEDED Substance Use Service in New Martinsville
YSS Take Action Recovery
A new partnership has formed between Take Action of Wetzel County and Youth Services System Inc. (YSS) and the result of the collaboration will debut a shared space that will address numerous substance use issues for Wetzel County residents. The space will house Youth Services System Prevention Services and Take ActionRecovery Resource Center. Both organizations will provide most helpful services for the community.
ó YSS Prevention Services will provide youth prevention programs, information for parents and community members and community prevention strategies. The space will also house the Wetzel Marshall County Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) coordinator which is also a Take Action/YSS collaboration. The Post Overdose Response Team or PORT visits individuals who have had non-fatal overdoses to offer appropriate treatment and help. The goal is to lower drug overdoses and increase those needing help receiving treatment or services.
ó The Take Action Recovery Resource Center is place for anyone seeking help from substance use disorder, which is a term for addiction. The Take Action recovery coaches will provide information, referrals to treatment, recovery resources, support for those in recovery, harm reduction supplies and other services that will help and support individuals with substance use disorder or addiction. This is a much needed service for Wetzel County.
About the organizations: Take Action is a local nonprofit that began 2017 and became a 501-c3 in 2018. They are a small group of caring recovery coaches that began their efforts as a faith-based organization but they are inclusive of all faiths and paths to recovery. They use their lived experience and extensive training to help others.
