Roberts’ Wisdom, Peoples Bank, Scores

Good morning Tyler County.

The quote of the day which may inspire the time ahead comes from retired Tyler County Magistrate John Roberts.

“It’s not what you’ve got, it’s how you use what you have.”

This editor learned a lot from talking to that old farmer and his wife JoEllen. Perhaps if there were more family farms as there were when the Republic was founded America would be in better shape today. The core values of hard work and family made this nation strong.

More on the Roberts’ family in a future edition.

In other news, Jonathan Kerns was recently hired as the branch manager for Peoples Bank in Sistersville. Kerns resides in Sistersville with his wife, Tamara, and their three children.

In sports news, the Silver Knights’ girls’ basketball team was narrowly defeated by Ravenswood, 68-67, Thursday night at home. Tyler (7-12) was led by Josey Jones who tallied 24 points, while JoLee Walton and Amanda Reynolds each netted 13 and Peyton Kocher added 11.

Love this photo because of the smiles on these girls’ faces — Aleah Black, Amanda Reynolds, Josey Jones and Miranda Weekley.

The Silver Knights’ boys’ basketball team will joust Ravenswood tonight at home.

Lastly, the Tyler County Public Library Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 9 in the library in Middlebourne. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
