Wednesday Morning Briefing 12-7
Good morning Tyler County.
Today is Dec. 7 — a date which will live in infamy. From what this editor remembers from history class, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, but the war didn’t work out too well for them.
On a more upbeat note, Santa Claus will be visiting Phillips Drug store between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday on Wells Street in downtown Sistersville. Honestly, this event is or should be one of the highlights of the season, maybe make it a family tradition. There will be craft projects for children, time with Santa, free pictures with Santa and gift bags.
In sports news, the photo posted on Facebook is of TCHS girls’ team’s game against Parkersburg Catholic on Tuesday in Kidwell. While Parkersburg Catholic defeated TCHS’ girls’ basketball team — 83-57 — the talent showed for this squad with Josey Jones pacing the Silver Knights with 19 points, followed by Peyton Kocher with 13 and JoLee Walton with 11. Great things ahead for this team. Sports writer Ed Parsons will have more about this game in next week’s edition.
In sports news, Valley narrowly defeated Tyler Consolidated — 53-52 — in boys basketball Tuesday night in Pine Grove. Silver Knights’ Jace Reed put 16 points on the board and Dylan Roberts with 12. What can’t that boy do!?
The Wildcats dominated Beallsville — 69-23 — in boys basketball Tuesday in Beallsville. Aaron Heasley put 30 points on the board and 17 rebounds. Hayden Hizer was one assist short of a triple-double, also scoring 15 points to go with 14 rebounds. Amazing.
