Karen Ann Northcraft, 80, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016, at her home.
She was born May 18, 1936, in Sistersville, WV, to the late Herman and Gertrude Underwood.
Karen was a member of Newburgh United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Thursday Morning Bible Study and was also a Stephen Minister.
She started her career in teaching at a high school in Sistersville, WV and went on to teach at the University of West Virginia. Karen also worked at numerous Social Service and Mental Health Service Agencies in West Virginia. In 1995 she started working at USI and retired from there in 2003.
Karen enjoyed reading and working cross word puzzles. She loved her best friend, Molly the cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Northcraft in 1971 (they were married on July 2, 1960), and brothers, Keith and Ken Underwood.
Karen is survived by her nephews, Michael Underwood and Keith Underwood (Terry); and caregiver, Priscilla Campbell.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Pastor Chris Nunley.
Friends visited Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
