Friday Morning Briefing
Based on news reports after the election about how some folks have reacted, be happy that you live in West Virginia, Tyler County in particular. Fueled by coffee, there are so many eye rolling thoughts about this, but let’s focus more on what’s important today.
Tyler Consolidated has two teams wearing the Silver Knights’ jersey and putting all on the line for the school, the community. Good kids, this future generation will preserve our nation for years to come.
Enjoy the inspiring school spirit signs along W.Va. Route 18 heading north.
A few short hours after pouring that first cup of coffee, the volleyball team will be playing Moorefield at the state meet at 8:30 a.m. in Charleston. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Charleston Catholic/Wirt County match at 6:30 p.m. today.
Good luck. The newspaper will post updates today as they become available.
The football team will be playing at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Baker. For those that make the trip on Hardy County, salute! These boys have earned their spot in the playoffs.
Courtesy of Silver Knights’ cheerleading Coach Kristen Cunningham, here is the current WVSSAC list of items that can and cannot be taken into football playoff stadiums. Knights’ cheerleaders will have cowbells for sale for $5 today.
Not sure what hotels to recommend in the Baker area metropolis, but the newspaper offers the suggestion of making reservations about an hour or so away in Keyser or Cumberland, Maryland. Keyser is a nice small town and Cumberland is about the size of Wheeling is very scenic too. Other than that, be safe and watch for deer on the way home.
On another note, today is Veterans Day, so thank a veteran.
Sistersville Elementary School is sponsoring a Veterans’ Breakfast for all veterans between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. today at the school. Also, the Sistersville Elks Lodge is sponsoring a Veterans Day Dinner for ALL Veterans and their spouses at noon today in the Ballroom.
