Saturday Morning Briefing
Well, the movie “The Bad News Bears” about a Little League team didn’t have a Hollywood ending either. After coming together as a team during the season under Coach Buttermaker (Walter Matthau), the Bears lose the championship to the Yankees. Great movie on so many different levels.
The TCHS football team shares some of the same spirit as the Bears — and certainly the same ending to the season. St. Marys beat the Silver Knights 52-26. Not everything is a win nor should it be. There were high points to the game: a 69-yard pass from Griffin Phillips to Tyler Anderson that put points on the board. And there were low points: TCHS had 7 first downs compared to 20 for St. Marys.
That said, it’s been a great season for the Silver Knights.
In other Friday night lights, Valley defeated Paden City 22-6.
Magnolia plays at Moorefield at 1:30 p.m. Today. That’ll be a long drive, but I guess it’ll be pretty at this time of year.
TCHS’ volleyball team will play Madonna at 6 p.m. in the Class A Regional Final on the Silver Knights’ home turf. Good luck.
