On-the-Line Seeks Awareness, Solutions Arising from Drug Epidemic
Though the daily news notes the tragic consequences dealing with drug usage, some folks are coming together to do something about the problem.
On-The-Line takes place between noon and 8 p.m. Friday by the county line along W.Va. 2 between Helen and Robinson streets in Paden City.
The meeting’s purpose is to create awareness of the epidemic through signs and tables with information about prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery. At dusk there will be a candle lighting in recognition of those who passed away from substance use, those who are still struggling, those who are seeking help and those for whom there is hope that they never have to experience addiction.
“Tyler County and Wetzel County both have strong coalitions dedicated to preventing and fighting substance abuse issues,” said Alex King, who coordinated the event. “The more people who are present, the more awareness we can raise. Those passing by will be encouraged to stop and pick up information if they want to join our cause or get help for themselves or loved ones. This will be a display of hope.”
