Martin (Larry) Riggs, 77, of Middlebourne, departed this life Wednesday September 14, 2016, in Genesis Health Care, Sistersville, after fighting a long battle with Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease.
He was born January 1, 1939 in Tyler County, a son of the late Paul Martin and Esthlene Mason Riggs.
Larry was a former employee of Union Carbide, Friendly, having retired in 1992. He was a member of Fairview Church, Wilbur.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Bonner Riggs in 2005; a brother, John Paul Riggs in 2015.
Larry is survived by his son. Moke and his wife, Linda, New Martinsville and his daughter, Theresa Jayne Wells and her husband, John, Middlebourne. Three brothers Jim (Nancy) Riggs, Middlebourne, Edward (Gracie) Rudder and Doin Rudder all of West Union; sisters; Evora (Irv) Reed, Middlebourne, Nadara (late Russell) Brightwell, New Matamoros, OH, Jennie (late Ralph) Martin, Vienna and Myrtle Kimball, Alma; six grandchildren; Devinn Deannine (Andy) Jackson, New Martinsville, Whitney Shae Wells, Glenville, Lindsay Elizabeth Riggs, Seattle, WA, Matthew Moke Riggs, Parkersburg, Ashley Lachea (Keith) Bryant, Parkersburg and Logan Presslie Riggs, New Martinsville. He was also blessed with six great- grandchildren; Madison Steele, Tanner, Kendi and Hunter Jackson and Caiden Watson and Lillian Bryant.
Family will receive friends Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne where services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Roger Yost officiating. Interment in Middlebourne Cemetery, Middlebourne.
