Quinn Pleads Guilty
NEW MARTINSVILLE – A Paden City woman originally charged with murder pleaded guilty Wednesday to a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter.
Jessica Quinn, 36, of 114 S. Third Ave., Paden City, faces a 15-year sentence for the manslaughter charge, as well as a five-year sentence on the charge of wanton endangerment, to which she also pleaded guilty.
Quinn fatally shot Kevin Clark Thompson Jr. in the abdomen outside her home on June 8, 2015.
Wetzel County Prosecutor Timothy Haught said the state is recommending Quinn be sentenced to the maximum on both charges, consecutively, for an effective sentence of 20 years. Haught noted the victim’s parents agreed to the plea “as opposed to risking a jury trial.”
Quinn’s sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 27.
Quinn was scheduled to stand trial this week.
The state is recommending a 20-year sentence.
