Armed Home Invasion Probed
MIDDLEBOURNE -Tyler County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about an armed nighttime home invasion on Oil Ridge Road that left an elderly couple injured.
The robbery occurred at around 1:45 a.m. Jan. 16. Paul and Janice Wells, longtime residents of Tyler County, were injured during the assault.
The investigation is ongoing.
“We’ve done numerous interviews and worked with other law enforcement agencies in the Ohio Valley,” Dean Pratt, chief deputy for the Tyler County Sheriff Department. “We’re following up on a lot of leads on different things.”
Pratt said the sheriff’s department has an officer assigned to the case. He said forensic experts are assisting with the case.
After assault, Paul Wells, 88, and his wife, Janice, 83, were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Pratt said they are recovering slowly from injuries.
Paul and Janice Wells attended Tyler County High school. Paul Wells retired from Conalco and Janice Wells from the Wetzel Tyler Health Department. They tended to their farm on Oil Ridge Road.
