Sistersville Man Dies In Crash
SISTERSVILLE – Police said a Sistersville man was killed in a single-vehicle fatal crash Friday on W.Va. 2.
Police Chief Rob Haught identified the accident 29-year-old victim as Daniel J. Villono.
Haught said a Chevy Silverado driven by Villono overturned around 4 p.m. on W.Va. 2 near the intersection of Carter Street, he was pinned beneath the vehicle resulting in his death at the scene.
Police said three other passengers sustained minor injuries, two of which were treated at Sistersville General Hospital.
W.Va. Route 2 was closed for more than 2 hours with the state Department of Highways rerouting traffic around the accident scene.
Police were assisted by the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department along with Sistersville and Middlebourne EMS.
Police said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Villono, a graduate of Tyler Consolidated High School, was born on Aug. 22, 1986 in Canton, Ohio, a son of the late Sandra Villono, according to Myers Funeral Home of Sistersville.
He was a laborer and a master service adviser.
Survivors include his daughter; Kendra Kailan Villono; two brothers: Donald (Tammy) Villono of Sistersville and Jamie Villono of Carrollton, Ohio, and three nieces: Jamie Danielle Moore, Zaviera Eve and Zylan Villono.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 3 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Myers Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Sistersville.
