Hospice fundraiser begins

By Staff | Nov 23, 2011

Journey Hospice’s Memorial Christmas Tree campaign begins this week, with trees on display at the three locations.

Every year, the staff sells snowflake ornaments which are placed on one of four trees throughout the area. Many families purchase the ornaments in memory of a loved one or a current hospice patient.

This year, trees will be located in Wetzel County Hospital’s patient entrance lobby; Sistersville General Hospital’s main lobby; Quinet’s Court Restaurant, and the Middlebourne branch of Union Bank of Tyler County.

The Christmas Tree project serves as the main fundraiser of Journey Hospice volunteers. This year’s ornament is a clear acrylic and silvertone snowflake, which costs $10 each. The ornament will be placed on the memorial tree of the purchaser’s choice, inscribed with the name of the loved one honored. Ornaments will be sent to purchasers after the trees are taken down in early January.

Tree captains for the project include: Jane Snyder 304-483-2414 (Wetzel Co. Hospital); Alma Barnard 304-652-2146 (Sistersville General Hospital); Mary Thomas 304-758-4552 (Union Bank), and Fran Caldwell 304-455-5092 (Quinet’s).

For information, call 304-447-2464, or contact one of the project’s captains. Donations and newspaper coupons may be mailed to Journey Hospice, 314 S. Wells, St., Sistersville, WV. Please make checks payable to Journey Hospice.
