CREATE A NEW TOPICGoogle: Summer of Code 2009
Historically, Google Summer of CodeTM has brought together nearly 2,500 students with over 180 open source projects to create millions of lines of code. We’re looking for mentors and students to join us in making 2009 the best Summer of Code yet! I would like to apologize for not posting that earlier I just only heard recently that it was being offered. Though I don't do any programming myself I do spend a lot of my time in the area of network administration and linux system maintaining.

This sounds like a fantastic opportunity for students and mentors. However the deadline is past for this year apparantly. Is there anyone locally who got on board on time and is participating in CSofC? If not, we need to do this next year to help our youth prepare themselves for future employment and earn a nice summer stipend.

This is not spam. It's more of a chance for people in this area if there are any to put any coding skills to use for many of the perks provided by Google. For the better of the Open-Source community. Thank you.
