I know everyone thinks what a great place to advertise, but you aren't thinking about the safety of the linemen who climb those poles. Every staple or nail you drive into the poles compromises the rubber safety equipment they use to prevent electrical shocks, plus there is no "good wood" left for their climbing spikes. So if you feel you must advertise your yard sale, lost pet or music concert on a pole use tape instead of nails & staples.
