Coffee Shop Open for Business

September 11, 2019
By Leann Cochran - Staff Writer , Tyler Star News

Sistersville residents were greeted with a warm surprise last Tuesday morning following the long Labor Day weekend. The smell of freshly brewed coffee drifted through the street as The Banker's Corner Coffee Shop opened the doors to the public for the first time, just in time for the Fall season.

The Banker's Corner is situated in just that - the old Union Bank that sits on the corner in Sistersville across from the Museum and beside the Emporium. It is evident upon entering that hard work went into restoring the building, yet preserving the historic atmosphere. The original vault that was used in the bank is still standing, but is used as more of a decorative rather than functional feature.

The coffee shop serves as a quick stop that offers a variety of goodies to those travelling on their early morning commutes to work. It could also serve as a family friendly breakfast setting for parents just sending their children off to school.

A variety of beverages are available at the new coffee shop in Sistersville.

As any traditional coffee shop, The Bankers Corner has a variety of flavors and coffees on hand. The beverage menu also boasts smoothies, hot chocolate, lattes, and hot or iced teas.

Donuts, cinnamon rolls, turnovers, and eclairs are just a few examples of the fresh pastries served daily. The shop also has a daily dessert special that included items such as apple dumplings and ice cream sandwiches for the opening week.

A variety of breakfast and lunch specials is reported to change and be available for customers each day. An example of some items on the breakfast menu for opening week included pancakes, biscuits and gravy, breakfast wraps, and more. The lunch menu also varied daily and included egg salad sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, and tuna melts.

The Banker's Corner is reportedly going to be open Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The weekend hours are 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and the shop will be closed on Monday.
