Several recently gathered for an important patriotic and solemn purpose, to witness the dedication and presentation of the American Flag, “Old Glory” to the Tyler County 4-H organization by The American Legion Auxiliary – Tyler County Unit #48. This donation of the American Flag was made possible by the Auxiliary and an anonymous donor. Those in attendance stood up for the presentation of the flag, and the prayer was led by the Unit #48 Chaplain.

Auxiliary President Cathy Post then read “I Am the Flag,” by Ruth Apperson Rous, as well as stating, “The very purpose of this dedication is to show our support for the children of this organization through Americanism.”

Post continued, “We are trying, with the help of the local schools and this great organization, to mentor our youth and educate the public to the ideals of Justice, Freedom, Democracy and Loyalty.

“We foster patriotism, citizenship, personal integrity and family values by meaningful volunteer opportunities within our community.”
