Tyler Star News

Students from Tyler Consolidated Middle and High School attended the 2018 WV Music Educators Association All State on March 8-10. Students attending were sixth graders Samantha Melvin and Layla Williamson in the Children's Chorus, and juniors Tori Cremona and Trey Keys in the High School Honor Choir.

The students left for Charleston on March 8th, and spent the day rehearsing with their guest directors.

On March 9, the high schoolers continued to rehearse while the Children's Chorus prepared to perform that night with guest conductor Greg Gilpin. The Friday night concert consisted of "Come to the Music" by Joseph Martin;

On March 10, the High School Chorus performed in the afternoon along with their guest conductor, Rosephanye Powell.

Their concert included "The Moon is Distant from the Sea" by David Childs, "Gloria In Excelsis" by Vivaldi, "Noche de Lluvia" by Sid Robinovitch, "I Will Sing" and "I Dream a World" by Rosephanye Powell.

The students enjoyed their time working with other children across the state as they learned new singing techniques from their conductors.
