Just a couple weeks ago, the Silver Knights got a win over the Blue Eagles on Magnolia's home floor in a game where Leo Herrick was red hot for the Blue and scored 39 points. That would not be the case on Jan. 15 as Tyler held the Magnolia star to 19 points during the Boggs Roundball Classic semi-final. The Silver Knights defeated the Blue Eagles with a final score of 59-38.

The Roundball Classic resumed play on a Monday night after Friday and Saturday's games were canceled due to inclement weather. In the first game of the night, Cameron got the victory over Valley to set up a matchup with the winner of the Tyler Consolidated and Magnolia boys game. When the Boggs Classic resumes, Valley and Magnolia will face off in the consolation game, and Tyler will face off with Cameron in the championship game. The date has yet to be set.

The Silver Knights came out of the block and got a quick start with Griffin Phillips getting a steal on the first possession and converting a lay-in for a 2-0 lead. By the end of the first quarter, the Knights had stretched the lead to six 14-8 on the heels of a Dylan Roberts three. More of the same took place in the second frame. The Knights used a stiff pressure defense to gain a 19-9 advantage and go into the half with a 33-17 lead. Phillips led the charge in the quarter; he put in seven points and added four rebounds. Mark Wilson also got four points in the frame.

Both teams came out of the locker room ready to play, and it was back and forth. Herrick kept the Blue Eagles from falling further behind by scoring seven in the quarter, including 5-5 from the free throw line. Roberts hit a three and two other buckets to knock in seven in the quarter for Tyler.

The fourth quarter was all Tyler Consolidated as they put in 11 points to the Blue's six. Tyler also dominated the boards with 31 rebounds to 19 for the Blue Eagles. The Silver Knights added 12 steals and three blocks.

The balanced scoring of Tyler made the difference as three players hit for double figures with Tyler West leading the way with 14. Roberts hit three 3's and ended with 13 points while Phillips added 12. Rounding out the night's scoring was Kyle Mason with seven, Mark Wilson with six, Steven Ross with three and Nate Lancaster and Mark Rucker with two each. The Knights are scheduled to play on the road at Williamstown on Thursday, with tip off at 6 p.m. for a JV game.
