On Wednesday, November 8, the OVAC announced the volleyball player of the year award and All-OVAC teams for the 2017 volleyball season. For the second year in a row a Paden City volleyball player received the honor.

This years recipient of the award went to freshman Hope Weber, who had a spectacular year and led the Wildcats to the OVAC regular season and tournament championships.

Weber came into the season from last years middle school program and made an immediate impact as a hard hitter and the teams best blocker. She was also named to the All-OVAC first team unit. Her stats back up her honors as she recorded 434 kills, with a hitting percentage of 366%, while also getting 91 blocks and scoring 237 service points with a serving percentage of 93.7%.

"She is a player who plays above her age. She was special for us this season and we wouldn't have been able to accomplish the things we did without her. This is a huge honor coming from the largest high school athletic conference in the United States. She is without a doubt the best freshman impact player I've ever coached. Hope is a fine athlete who will have a great career at Paden City high school," Coach Fred King said.

Weber has received several other honors this season including Max Preps, West Virginia player of the month.
