Paden City Hosts Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta

The fourth annual Paden City High School Cardboard Boat Race Regatta was held at Paden City Park Marina on Friday, Sept. 29. The event included students from Paden City and Magnolia High Schools. Each school's winner also won a trip to Georgetown, South Carolina to participate in a wooden boat Regatta competition. This event a STEAM Project, meaning it incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. There were several competitors from each school and a variety of styles were used in the competition. It was very exciting and educational for the students. Cora Anderson is the returning champion from last years competition and she build a boat in the shape of a unicorn for this year's competition. Paden City Principal Jay Salva stated, "This is something that we've been doing for four years now and we would like to get many of the surrounding schools involved."
