Taking Control of Water Loss

September 20, 2017
Tyler Star News

It was revealed this week that several people have been charged in Sistersville for water theft by placing hoses or tubes to bypass their meter to access free water. This has caused the water usage numbers for the city to be way off. Since Sistersville is trying to acquire their water from Friendly PSD, they are required to account for all of their lost water.

The problem was that the city previously did not inspect homes where the water had been cutoff, which is where most of the water theft occurred. Now that the city is aware, they can take proper precautions to prevent this from happening. The city will soon be receiving radio readable water meters, which will be more difficult to manipulate. It seems as though Sistersville is taking steps in the right direction to get their water situation under control.
