PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) — Repairs to an Interstate 77 tunnel along the Virginia-West Virginia border have been completed following a truck fire.
The West Virginia Division of Highways says the Virginia Department of Transportation has completed its repairs of the East River Mountain Tunnel.
Northbound lanes were closed from 8 p.m. Tuesday through 8 a.m. Wednesday and were set to be closed again from 8 p.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Thursday.
Burning cardboard on the truck sent thick, black smoke throughout the tunnel Friday, forcing it to close in both directions.
Crews were repairing tunnel lights, as well as doing cleaning and tile inspection and repair.
