The Tyler Star News Athletes of the week for April 19, 2017 are Haden Hizer and Colton Elliott of Paden City and Gage Huffman from Tyler Consolidated.
Hizer had two big games this past week as the Cat's won against Cameron, Hundred and Ritchie County. Against Cameron Hayden hit an inside the park grand slam and knocked in five runs, He came back on Wednesday against Hundred and sent another one over the fence for his second grand slam of the week. Overall he accountd for 11 runs on seven hits. He also got his 100th career hit on Wednasday April 12.
Elliott got in on the action as well as he Hammered one deep over the fence at Cameron for a grand slam and got two hits the next night against Hundred while picking up a double and a single against Ritchie County. Colton ended the wek with nine hits and eight RBI's.
Huffman a freshman left fielder had a big night against Magnolia as he doubled with two outs in the sixth to break a tie and put the Silver Knights up going into the bottom of the sixth. He also added an RBI single in the top of the seventh to put the Knights ahead to stay. Gage plays a nice game and has been making his presence felt for the 9-1 Silver Knights. On Saturday he went 3-4 against Calhoun County with two doubles and a single while knocking in two runs.
Special honorable mentioned this week goes out to Paden City's Softball players Madaline Cox and Aubrey Neff. Also Tyler Consolidated's Jarrett Lemasters for a 13.6 pole vault and Knights 110 meter hurdler Nate Barker who ran a personal best 16.78 at the Ritchie County Invitational on Friday. Silver Knights baseball players Colby Buchanan and Kyle Mason.
