Paden City Labor Day Parade a Success

September 7, 2016
Tyler Star News

It was good to see both sides of the street lined with people watching the Labor Day parade on Monday in Paden City.

The parade offered a long procession of folks ranging from beauty queens to politicos. Several high school marching bands made their fans proud as they played the music that makes Friday night football games come to life. Kids scrambled for candy thrown by most everyone walking in the parade.

Tyler County Fair Queen Seminole Weekley observed that there were so many people attending the parade that she ran out of candy before the truck she was riding in finished the parade route.

"Once again, Paden City put on one of the best parades in the state," Paden City Mayor Joel Davis said.

Community support is vital to area festivals and parades. The West Virginia Oil and Gas Festival, which is nearly 50 years old, will be celebrating another year between Sept. 15-17. Sistersville's Marble Festival will take place between Sept. 23-25, with marble crafters, vendors and more.

Make these area events an opportunity to spend time with the family and show community support.
