Dawson's Service Is Key to Happiness

June 22, 2016
Tyler Star News

Tuesday morning, the moving trucks arrived at the parsonage for First United Methodist Church. Long after the boxes and furniture were loaded and hauled away to Harrisville, Pastor Bill Dawson's mark will remain. As a testament to the man's commitment to the Sistersville and the Tyler County community, several people gathered Sunday afternoon outside the parsonage to honor him. Mayor Bill Rice presented Dawson with a Key to the City. Sisterville City Council proclaimed June 19 as Pastor Bill Dawson Day. And Dawson's church dedicated a community prayer chapel in his honor.

Dawson said he honors God by serving the community. During Dawson's time in Tyler County, Heroes Day was created and dedicated as a tribute to firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical workers who serve those in need and protecting the public. Dawson has opened countless public meetings and led the invocation at gatherings such as Relay for Life. In many instances, Dawson has been the voice of reason and clarity.

And for all this, the city was right to present him the eternal accolades that will serve as a reminder not only of what Dawson did, but of what we can all do to make Tyler County a great place to live.
