W.Va. State Police detachments merging in Mingo

June 7, 2014
Associated Press

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — In a cost-cutting move, the West Virginia State Police is consolidating detachments in Mingo County.

Under the change, the Gilbert and Williamson detachments will meld into one, based in Williamson. Despite the merger, state police say the Stafford District Area would gain manpower hours.

It costs approximately $18,000 to maintain the Gilbert detachment building. Calls made to the Gilbert detachment will ring at Williamson.
